Determining if your Business Page has Actually been Hacked
Most of the time when a client gets a message or notification that their page was hacked, we can see it live and verify that it wasn't in fact hacked. Be very careful not to click on links informing you of a hack. Most of the time they are phishing scams, which can result in identity theft.

Actual Hacks
Unfortunately, every once in a while, the personal page set as the practice owner or manager is hacked, allowing the hackers to also take over ownership of the business page. Once accomplished, they may start changing images, posting their own content, all while under your business name. It can be a very upsetting experience.

How Does it Happen?
Since all business pages are owned and managed by personal pages, the vast majority of Facebook business page theft results from a personal page being compromised.

The first line of action is to secure the personal page by reporting the hacking, getting access again, and then changing the password if possible.

Reporting the Hack
Before submitting this report, be sure you are logged in to the personal page that should be set up as the owner of the business page. <---This is why we cannot handle this on your behalf. In order to reclaim ownership of your listing, you must prove to Meta that you are in fact the owner of the business connected with the business page.

The second step is to report the business page as hacked, which can be done by following the instructions on this link: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/1280439701975125

You will be at the mercy of Meta sub-contractors and bots. This process can be quick (recovered in under 24 hours) or it may not work at all. Follow up and be persistent. Most hacks if approached in a timely manner can be resolved by submitting the issue and waiting on follow up. Be sure to the check the email and Facebook page associated with the person account that reported the issue, daily. To ensure you do not miss important updates from Meta.

What  can I do to Salvage My Reviews in case the Page is not Returned to Us?
If your reviews are still live, we recommend taking screenshots of them. If you happen to lose the ability to regain control of the business page, you can turn those reviews into beautiful posts in the future on a new page if needed.

What to do if Meta doesn't give the page back?
If your report is unresolved or Meta doesn't release it back to you, you can set up a new business page and report the old one as imitation of your business. This is not recommended until after you've attempted the recovery process in the link above.

We hope this information is helpful. Please know we're here for you.
