Why am I getting spam leads through my website?
No website is immune to spam. It comes in many forms, including but not limited to:
- Sales communication
- "Bad" leads
- Medicaid seekers
- free/cheap dentistry seekers
- robot / automated messages
- Messages in other languages
This isn't anything new. The most important thing to consider is to NEVER mark these inquiries as SPAM, even if they are. Why? Because once you mark one inquiry as spam, your inbox may refuse to show you future (REAL) leads. You're marking the "sender" as the spammer. In this case, the sender is your very own website server.
For this reason, we recommend testing form recipient emails monthly by submitting a form through your website, local listings, landing pages, etc. to ensure they are being received. Since we cannot control how you mark emails in your inbox or how your email host treats the website host, we cannot test this for you. As a courtesy, we do, however send out a monthly reminder each month reminding you to test these items.
Keep in mind:
Our competitors love to load up our clients' sites with irrelevant leads. After doing this for a few weeks or months, they may reach out to gain your business by asking, "Do you feel the leads you're getting from your marketing are suitable for your practice?" This is their way to strike up a conversation, all the while being behind the spammy messages. If the leads come in in excess, it's possible you're being targeted by an unethical sales professional, about to swoop in on their white horse and "save you."
